The fenga is the sleeveless jacket of the Rai people, one of Nepal’s Kirat communities — worn by men over a shirt or daura through the working day, and at Sakela, the harvest festival that anchors the Rai calendar. It sits close through the chest and falls straight to the hip, the piece that turns everyday clothes into Rai dress.

Each jacket is cut from undyed cotton that stays light and breathable through long days, its surface carrying the faint slub of the yarn. The front wraps cross-wise and ties at the side rather than buttoning, the way Rai men have fastened the fenga for generations.

Wear it open over a plain shirt for daily use, or over a daura when the occasion calls for it. Each piece is tailor-made to your measurements — after ordering, Bhutib contacts you directly to confirm fit and preferences. A small piece of Kirat identity, made to be worn often.

Questions people actually ask

Will it fit if I’ve never been measured?

Yes. Choose your usual size. Before we cut, we message you on WhatsApp for two numbers — your chest or bust at the fullest part, and your height — and adjust the pattern to you. A tape and two minutes is all it takes.

What if it doesn’t fit when it arrives?

We alter it free. Courier it back to us in Kalimpong (that leg is on you); we adjust it and pay the courier back to you. Or take it to a tailor near you — every piece is cut with margin for a small local adjustment.

Is there anything to pay on top of the price?

No. Delivery is free across India and the price includes tax, so the amount you see is the amount you pay. Two exceptions, both quoted before you order: a size above 4XL carries a small surcharge for the extra cloth, and a personal customisation beyond a standard size is confirmed with a 10% advance on the order; the rest is paid on delivery, as usual.

Can I cancel, or change the size or colour?

Before we cut, yes — tell us on WhatsApp and nothing is lost. After cutting, the piece is made to your measurements and cannot go back into stock; if it does not fit, we alter it free.

I’m buying for someone I can’t measure — what do I do?

Choose their usual size and add their WhatsApp number in the order notes. We confirm the rest with them, or with you, before we cut.

Need a size we do not list?

We cut it. Smaller than the smallest size shown, larger than the largest, and for babies and children too. Message us the measurements on WhatsApp; for a child we need chest, shoulder-to-foot length and sleeve length. Above 4XL the extra cloth carries a small surcharge, quoted before you pay.

Can it come faster?

Sometimes. Tell us your date before you order and, if a faster courier reaches your pincode, we quote the difference. Either way, tell us the date and we cut yours first.

Will it reach me before my date?

Allow 6–9 working days from the day you confirm your measurements, anywhere in India, a little longer for remote pincodes. Tell us the date in the order notes or on WhatsApp and we plan around it.

Do you ship outside India?

Not through this website yet; it ships within India only. Message us on WhatsApp and we will arrange it, or order from our Etsy shop, which ships worldwide with free shipping.

Is the colour the same as the photo?

The photos are of the actual cloth in daylight; screens differ a little. To be sure, ask us on WhatsApp for a photo of the cloth before we cut.
