Description

  • Fabric: Jacquard weave throughout — cloud-scroll and circular endless-knot medallion motifs woven into the surface
  • Craft: Crossover wrap tego top with contrast lapel and cuff bands in the skirt’s colour; gold metallic piping at cuffs; ankle-length bakhu wrapper skirt with sash-tie waistband
  • Includes: 1 × Tego wrap top + 1 × Bakhu wrapper skirt

Among Bhutia, Sherpa, and Tibetan women across the Eastern Himalayan hills, the pairing of a Tego top with a Bakhu wrapper skirt carries its own occasion logic — worn at Losar, at weddings, at the community gatherings where clothing signals cultural belonging as much as celebration. This two-piece set frames that pairing as a single composed ensemble: two distinct jacquard panels, each with its own woven motif, designed to read together.

The Tego top is cut in a crossover wrap silhouette — the deep V-neckline formed by the wrap itself, lapel facings cut in the precise colour of the skirt below, full-length sleeves finished with a cuff band in that same contrasting colour and edged with narrow gold metallic piping. The Bakhu wrapper skirt falls straight to the ankle in a slightly heavier jacquard weighted with large circular endless-knot medallions — auspicious symbols woven into the structure of the cloth, not printed — secured at the waist with a sash-tie. The colour-echo between lapel, cuffs, and skirt is deliberate: the eye reads the two pieces as one.

Worn for Losar, weddings, and the kind of community functions where dressing with cultural intention matters, the set works as a full ceremonial look or — the top worn alone — as something quieter and still grounded. Each piece is tailor-made to your measurements — after ordering, BHUTIB contacts you directly to confirm fit and preferences. Crafted in Kalimpong by artisans who have worked with these fabrics and this community’s dress for years.

Size Guide

Find your perfect fit

Chest sets your top. Waist sets your bottom.

Measurements

Size
Chest (in)
Waist (in)

Measurements are of the body, not the garment. All sizes have a bit of extra space built in, so it stays comfortable, not tight.

How to measure your chest
1

Chest — Wrap a tape around the fullest part of your chest, parallel to the floor.

2

Waist — Measure around your natural waistline, the narrowest part of your torso.

3

Compare — Chest sets your top; waist sets your bottom.
